Free Shipping Bar
Set up a dynamic free shipping progress bar to increase average order value on your Shopify store.
Overview
The Free Shipping Bar displays a progress indicator showing how close a customer is to qualifying for free shipping. It updates in real time as items are added or removed from the cart.
Setup
- Enable the Free Shipping Bar module
- Set your free shipping threshold amount
- Choose where to display the bar (header, cart, or both)
- Customize your messages
Setting the Threshold
Go to Free Shipping Bar > Settings and enter your threshold amount.
Tip: Set the threshold 20 to 30% above your current average order value. If your AOV is $45, a threshold of $55 to $60 works well. Too close to your AOV and most customers already qualify. Too high and it feels unachievable.
Multi-Currency Support
If your store supports multiple currencies, you can set different thresholds per currency. The bar automatically displays the correct threshold based on the customer's selected currency.
Customizing Messages
The bar displays different messages based on cart status:

| Empty cart / below threshold | "Free shipping on orders over $X!" |
| Getting close (within 20%) | "You're only $Y away from free shipping!" |
| Qualified | "You've earned free shipping!" |
Edit these messages in Free Shipping Bar > Messages. Use {amount} as a placeholder for the remaining amount and {threshold} for the total threshold.
Display Options
- Position: Top of page (sticky), above cart, or both
- Colors: Background, text, and progress bar colors
- Animation: Progress bar fill animation on update
- Hide when qualified: Optionally hide the bar once the customer qualifies
Analytics
Track the bar's impact in Free Shipping Bar > Analytics:
- Percentage of customers who saw the bar and increased their cart
- Average cart increase attributed to the shipping bar
- Conversion rate for customers who hit the threshold vs. those who did not
